Ladies are not the only ones who should adopt a skin care routine. That’s right! Men can benefit from adopting a routine that works for them, and it doesn’t have to take much time at all. Consider this skin care routine for men that will leave the largest organ feeling smooth and looking great.
1. Start the Day With a Cleanse
This is easy to do, especially if you are the type of gentleman who enjoys showers in the AM. When you are getting ready for your day, use a dime-size portion of your cleanser and liberally wash your face. Gently move your fingers in a circular motion, except for the part of your face where hair grows. If you have a beard, use your fingers to follow the direction of your hair growth. This will keep you comfortable as you cleanse.
The last thing that you want to do is complicate your routine, but this step is a must. Twice per week, use a facial scrub on your face to get rid of dead skin cells, debris, and excess oil. A scrub will feel gritty, and this product will buffer away what you don’t want clogging your pores. This, too, can be done in the shower. Use the same motion with your fingers when exfoliating as you would when cleaning the skin. Yes, you are using a scrub, but resist the urge to use a ton of pressure and tear your skin to bits. Use a gentle amount of pressure, and rinse the scrub well when you have finished.
Only use this product twice per week. Any more than this will dry out your skin, stripping it of the oil you do need for your skin to be healthy. The result will be an over-production of oil that can lead to breakouts and a dirty feeling or shiny appearance. Twice is all you need, and you may want to space out these sessions equally. For example, you can use your scrub Monday and Thursday, if you like, or Tuesday and Friday, et cetera.
Skin looks and feels its best when you use a moisturizer. It doesn’t have to be anything fancy. In fact, a tiny little bit of coconut oil before you leave the house can make a huge difference. Of course, you can purchase a moisturizer meant for men at any store that sells skin care products, and some of these come in conjunction with aftershave for your convenience.
4. Use Sunscreen
This is the most important step when it comes to a skin care routine for men because it can keep you safe from the impact of the sun. Each day, especially if you work outdoors, use a sunscreen that is SPF 30 – 50. Make sure that the product you choose protects against UVA rays and UVB rays. To apply, use a dime-size amount and rub it into your facial skin. Use more for other areas of your skin that may be exposed to the sun, such as the back of your neck and ears.
